My Pilates journey has been a family affair.
My parents were big advocates for me to participate in sports from a young age. I grew up enjoying swimming, tennis, golf, volleyball, ice skating, skiing, and also dance.
I learned to swim before I learned to walk!
But I always struggled with strength.
One day back in 2000, my sister said to me "I just did a Pilates class. It is something you would love. You should try it."
So I did and my passion for Pilates started.
It was great for my mind and body. I always felt better after a class. I also got stronger and I was fitter for sports.
My mom had always said to my sister and me "You can have a corporate job but also do something else you love."
We heeded her advice. My sister trained to become a swim instructor and I trained to become a certified Pilates instructor. We taught our clients before and after our day job..and we were better for it.
I have been an instructor now for over 10 years and taught at various studios across Sydney.
I have worked with clients from age 12 to 80, pre/post surgery, injury rehabilitation, and pre/post natal.
It's about time I opened my own studio.
I'm continually fascinated with the human body and itβs exciting getting clients to appreciate how they can move so they can do all the other things they enjoy.
Every body has strengths and equally limitations. We can still explore what our bodies are capable of.
It is a misconception that you only work the "core" or "abs" in Pilates. It is a full body workout. It complements every other form of exercise, even the go hard gym goers.
I'm a big believer that exercise is medicine. It's a love tonic for the body.
I look forward to seeing you in the studio soon!
